Yu Darvish Gets Ultimate Revenge on Justin Verlander After 2018 Tweet

Verlander teased Darvish on social media last spring, but the Cubs' pitcher got revenge Wednesday

Revenge is a dish best served cold, but adjectives fail to convey just how perfectly Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish got back at Houston Astros hurler Justin Verlander.

To set the scene, Darvish had a slightly less-than-memorable moment during an April 2018 game against the Milwaukee Brewers, slipping and falling as he rounded second base after a hit.

Verlander retweeted a video of that moment with the caption “Yu, not doing a lot here to help us dispel the pitchers aren’t athletes thing:”

It took nearly 550 days, but Darvish got his revenge on Wednesday night. During the Astros’ Game 2 showdown against the Washington Nationals in the World Series, Verlander fielded a softly hit ground ball, but as he was lying on the ground and tried to throw the ball to first, he ended up throwing it off of his own leg:

With impeccable timing, Darvish retweeted the video and used the perfect caption: “Justin, not doing a lot here to help us dispel the pitchers aren’t athletes thing.”

It’s unclear how Verlander will continue tweeting, as Darvish has forever won the battle between the two pitchers.
